Shadow Pond Journal - Information

Today, 10th May 2023, is the birthday of the "Shadow Pond Journal"; a location for high quality haiku and senryu.

The thought process behind the title "Shadow Pond" came from my senryu recently published in Spillwords Press in New York

the shadow 

of her kimono 

drifting through the room 

and of course Matsuo Bashò's famed "Old Pond"

Furu ike ya

kawazu tobikomu

mizu no oto

old pond...

a frog jumps in

water's sound

Submissions are now open until June 10th 2023, the theme is open. 

Please send in up to three haiku or senryu with your biography via the submission form.

I will notify all poets to be featured and will not send out rejections.

Each haiku is copyrighted by the individual poet. Shadow Pond Journal must be cited as the first publication. After the publication, all rights revert back to the poet and the poet is free to republish his haiku elsewhere, on his own blog or social media.

Shadow Pond Journal reserves the right to publish any work accepted for publication for any future print or electronic anthologies and/or retrospectives of the journal - SPJ does not have the right to authorize publication of your work elsewhere.
