Jyoti Doley, India

Introducing  : Jyoti Doley, is an academic by profession and is based in Haldia, West Bengal, India. She has contributed in various research journals on the theme of diaspora, the sense of home, uprootedness and the LGBTQI+ identity. She has co-edited a collection of short-stories, Saudade, published by GGPF, Guwahati, Assam. She is an avid reader and a film buff. Her poems have been published in various poetry magazines like the Soul Connection published by the Grand Guwahati Poetry Festival, HaikuNetra – A Journal of haiku and senryu, and the Assam Tribune.Born in the pristine town of Pasighat in the Siang valley of Arunachal Pradesh, north-east India, her works are greatly influenced by the place and its culture. She has lived in different places apart from Pasighat, like Hyderabad, Kolkata and Haldia. These places have greatly influenced her perspective that are reflected in her works. Love, human condition and current socio-political state move her greatly, and she mostly writes about them. She sincerely believes that kindness can bring down violence.
