Zrinko Šimunić , Croatia

Introducing  : Zrinko Šimunić was born on 9th March 1961 in Čakovec. He is, besides a poet, an electrical engineer, who lives in Zagreb. He started to publish poetry relatively late in life. His very first, self-published collection of poems was entitled Terra Magica (1997). The second collection, Mere Prey – Poetry Thief, was published by the Literary Circle of Međimurje, Reči Rieč, in 1998. He is the recipient of the 2004 Ružica Orešković Poetry Mornings Award for his collection of poems Organolyrics, which was published in 2005 in the Poetry Mornings book series, and in 2007 he joined the Croatian Writers’ Association. His fourth collection of poems, A Child of the West, was published in the Insula book series, and this by the City of Čakovec. His fifth (last for now) collection of poems, Dreams and dream catchers, was also published in the Insule book series.

The poet was included in the last anthology of Croatian haiku "Contemporary Croatian Haiku - New Anthology", which was published by the Society of Croatian Writers, autumn 2023.
