Boryana Boteva, Bulgaria

Introducing  : Boryana Boteva from Sofia, Bulgaria.  Graduated with a degree in International Economic Relations from Sofia University of National and World Economy. Since then, she has been working in the area of European integration and EU membership.

She  started writing poetry and short forms at the end of 2024. Boryana's
interest is in writing classical poems, and poems intended for children (in 
the Bulgarian language), as well as haiku, senryu, and tanka in both 
Bulgarian and English.
She has her haiku published in the following English-speaking journals and 
sites as Presence, folk ku journal, the Wee Sparrow Haiku Nook, 
Haikuniverse, the Asahi Haikuist Network, #FemkuMag, failed haiku, Cold 
Moon Journal, Under the Bashō, the LEAF, and several others.
Awards and Other Honors:
In 2025, She has won two honorable mentions in two contests organized by the 
Bulgarian Haiku Society (the Sixth International Maya Luybenova Contest and 
the first Haiku Contest called “Contemplations in the Ayazmo Park”), as 
well as the third national tanka contest called “The Cherry Waters of the 
Bulgarian Tanka”.
Her international awards include first place at the 2025 Japan Fair Haiku 
Contest and a Runner Up Award at the 2025 International "Vladimir Devidé " 
Haiku Award, organized by Croatian Writers Association.
